How to follow YouTube channels in RSS

Every YouTube channel has a feed. It wants the channel ID, not the handle, and the ID hides in the page source.

Every YouTube channel has a feed. The catch is that it wants the channel’s ID, not its handle, so the @name in the address bar won’t do.

The ID lives in the page source.

  1. Open the channel’s page
  2. Right-click and choose View Page Source
  3. Search for channel/UC (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F)
  4. Copy the value that starts with UC

A video page works the same way. The same search finds the channel behind it.

Playlists have feeds as well. Swap channel_id for playlist_id, and take the ID from the playlist’s address, the part after list=.

Feeds follow channels and playlists, not subscriptions.

To follow a channel, paste its address into Discover and Glanced finds the feed. The feed address works in any other reader too.
